Countour Shoe Drawing Project

I thought this project was really intresting to do because you had to do countour lines. A countour line is a continous line drawn to show all surface ridges and edges. We were told to draw countour lines of someones shoe at our table, in the end my shoe was the one that was chosen to be drawn. I thought that this project is a lot harder than it looks because you can not lift the pen when you are drawing and some people may just think this drawing is just an outline, but it is not. The class had practice with these countour drawings, and what we did was we chose to do countour drawings of our hands. The first 3 drawings we did, we were told not to look at our paper and just try and draw our hand without lifting the pen. Our pen drawing was suppose to go the same rate as our eyes looking at our hands. And each one of these drawings are suppose to get better along the way. Then afterwards we could look at our paper and try to draw our hand but we still couldnt lift our pen. I thought I made a big improvement from when I started to when I finished. This was a really creative project and I hope there is more to come.

Cool iPad Value Project

This value project was done on a iPad using the Layers Pro app. The point of this was to find the lights and darks of the object and try to blend it together. We learned how to do these value projects ealier in our sketchbooks with one pencil and we also learned how to do this with oil pastels on black paper. The oil pastels were a little bit messier to use and I havent used oil pastels since elementary school. I would say this project on the iPad was a lot cleaner and was easier to blend the colors, than having to do it with oil pastels. I learned how to blend in the colors and how to emphasize the lights and darks. Technology can be important when it comes to art because it could help create cool artwork like the one above. I hope we can do more interesting and fun projects on the iPad because I really enjoyed that.
